Meet the Doula

Hello, my name is Deborah Allen. I am a certified doula with Dona International. I have been married to my best friend, Richard, for the best 11 years of my life. My husband and I have a 9 year old son who likes to sing, act in local plays, watch movies, and read. In my free time I like to cook, read, travel, and find new things to do with my family. Also, I have worked at a local non-for-profit pregnancy help center for the past 8 years and it was the instrumental part of me becoming a doula.

I have had to wear many hats through the years of working at the pregnancy center and among those hats was being a volunteer coordinator. One year a lady contacted me about offering to help women at our agency during the labor process. She explained her role in the delivery room and the benefits of having labor support. This conversation really touched my heart because I could have used someone just like her when my husband and I had our son.

I became a certified doula about 2yrs later and I have really enjoyed the work that I do.
